The First Canadian Colloquium for Ancient Philosophy
May 4–6, 2012
The Department of Philosophy warmly invites the submission of
proposals in either French or English for individual papers,
roundtable discussions, and poster presentations for the first
Canadian Colloquium for Ancient Philosophy. We invite submissions in
all areas of Ancient Philosophy, and we welcome submissions from
graduate and postgraduate students.
The list of invited speakers and roundtable presenters includes:
Rachel Barney (University of Toronto),
François Renaud (Université de Moncton),
Martin M. Tweedale (University of Alberta),
John Thorp (University of Western Ontario),
Lloyd P. Gerson (University of Toronto),
Brad Inwood (University of Toronto)
For individual papers (30 minutes presentation time) and poster
presentations, please submit an abstract (including a title) of about
300–500 words. For roundtable discussions, please submit a 300-word
abstract describing the roundtable theme and titles of 3 or 4
presentations (15 or 20 minutes presentation time each). Abstracts
should be prepared for blind review. In an email message to which your
proposal is attached please include your name, academic affiliation
and preferred postal address. Proposals for roundtable discussions
should also include in the email message the names and academic
affiliations of confirmed presenters. Please also indicate whether you
would like to serve as a commentator if your proposal is not accepted.
Those who would like to be considered solely as commentators are also
invited to contact the organizers.
Abstracts must be received by October 20, 2011 to be considered for
the colloquium. The selection panel will notify those who submitted of
its decision within two weeks. Those accepted must submit completed
papers by February 20, 2012. Please email your submissions (in .rtf,
.doc, .pdf format) to firstname.lastname@example.org. There will be a registration
fee for this colloquium.
