SAAP Graduate Student Session, Pacifc APA 2011

Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy,
Graduate Student Session at the Pacific APA
Call for papers, abstracts, or panel proposals

SAAP Graduate Student Session at the Pacific Division of the APA, which will take place at the Hilton Bayfront in San Diego from April 20 to 23, 2011,

Papers concerning any issue or figure in American philosophy are welcome.

Group session panels are to be organized around a theme. This means that accepted submissions of individual papers or abstracts will be grouped together according to a theme coincidentally shared, or that an accepted panel proposal will be centered on a theme. Themes may include individual thinkers (e.g., Dewey, Addams, Royce, DuBois, Peirce), intersections between individual thinkers (e.g., Emerson and Nietzsche), subjects (e.g., political theory, education, environmental ethics, nature, community, aesthetics), intersections with other traditions (e.g., Latin American philosophy, pragmatism and feminism, American philosophy and Asian philosophy, pragmatism and continental philosophy), or anything else submitters find makes for a compelling panel.

Paper length: 2750-3250 words. Abstracts will also be considered. Abstracts should be no shorter than 250 words (the more detailed, the better). Panel proposals should include an abstract for the whole panel, as well as either a completed paper or abstract for each of the papers comprising the panel.

Submission info: Prepare for blind review. Author name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information (email and phone number) should be given in a separate document; no such information is to be within the paper, abstract or panel proposal.

Please send your submission to:

Commentators: Persons interested in serving as commentator for the panel should send an email with their name, affiliation, contact information and areas of interest to:

Deadline for Submissions: Friday, September 24, 2011 [probably supposed to be 2010]

Notification regarding submission status will be made on or before Thursday, October 14, 2011 [2010?].

Please spread the word to fellow graduate students in your respective departments.
