8th Annual Northwest Student Conf.

The 8th Annual Northwest Student Philosophy Conference

The eighth annual Northwest Student Philosophy Conference is hosted by the students of the Western Washington University Philosophy Department. The conference will be held in Bellingham, Washington on May 21st - 23rd, 2010. It will consist of a keynote address (speaker TBD), student presentations, and lots of philosophical discussion with students and faculty.

Submitting papers for the conference is open to undergraduates, graduates, and people currently unaffiliated with any college or university. Submissions of original work in any subfield of philosophy are welcome. Submitted papers will undergo blind review by a student committee. The deadline for submissions is March 5 2010, and papers will be accepted or rejected for presentation by April 1. If your paper is accepted, it will be presented at the conference, and you will be expected to be present. If you are for some reason unable to attend, your paper will be read by someone at the conference. Submitting a paper for consideration signifies your acceptance of this. It is much preferable that people present their own papers, so please, if you are submitting a paper, make sure that you are willing to attend and present.

Papers should be no longer than about 3,000 words. Along with your paper please include a separate cover page with the following details:

1. Your full name
2. Email or mailing address
3. Telephone number
4. School affiliation (if any)
5. Title of the paper
6. Word count

Also include an abstract of at most 200 words. Please remove from the body of your paper (and your abstract) any information that would allow us to identify you. You can send papers to our mailing address, or send them by email as an attachment in Adobe PDF (.pdf) or Word Document (.doc) format, to Hud[dot]Hudson[at]wwu[dot]edu. Submissions will only be accepted via email.

There will not be any registration fees. Those who submit papers are not required to comment on papers for the conference. However, if you are submitting a paper and would also like to comment on one, please let us know. Please send questions and other comments to the organizers at philosophyclub.wwu[at]gmail[dot]com.
