National Bioethics Bowl at Harvard

We would like to invite your school to participate in the Bioethics
Bowl! The Bioethics Bowl is a debate style competition examining
prominent bioethical issues. This bowl is held in conjunction with 12th
annual National Undergraduate Bioethics Conference (NUBC) March 13-14th,
2009, hosted at Harvard College in Cambridge, MA.

The Bioethics Bowl will follow the general format of the Intercollegiate
Ethics Bowl program. Procedural rules and detailed information are
available on the website. Case studies prepared by nationally recognized
experts in the field of bioethics are now online. At the competition,
teams will discuss and debate their views on these case studies.
Analyses will be judged by a group of eminent bioethicists for soundness
of reasoning, focus on and sensitivity to ethically relevant factors,
and deliberative thoughtfulness. The Bioethics Bowl is a fun and
effective way to develop students' abilities in ethical analysis and

The field for this competition will be limited to ten teams. Each team
will consist of no more than 5 students (students must all be
undergraduates). The registration fee for the NUBC is $50 per student.
This fee includes 4 meals and all events and materials at the two-day
Conference. The registration deadline for the Bioethics Bowl is January
31st, 2009.
